Quirky Compositions and Color Ideas

When it comes to cropping and creating a composition, I try to find ways to have quirky cropping that doesn't look like a cliche "kodak moment". Something more off-kilter. And with color, I find myself attracted to color palettes of blues, purples, pinks...sometimes moments of neon colors adding a little pop. These artists are masters of composition and color.

Some of these works display many layers and passes of paint on top of each other which adds almost a vibration of colors and in others, the artists left areas of a light wash base layer without adding to it, which allows for the dynamic of rendered/fleshed out areas bumping up against not fully realized moments which is a nice effect to have in a painting. Not everything has to be hyper focused. That's not really how we see the world anyways.

I bought these napkins yesterday because I just fell in love with them. My family told me that they were "so you". That reminds me of the point I was trying to make the other day to somebody. How I'm a terrible saleswoman. I like my art and it's wonderful when other people do too. But I don't need to sell all of my art. I want those who buy my art to fall in love with it. Can't stop thinking about it. They have to have it because it speaks to them. Art is so personal. I don't want to have to sell somebody on why they should love my work. It should speak for itself.
